Supporting, informing and advocating for NSW retirement village residents About the RVRA NSW The RVRA is dedicated to supporting residents by providing information, advice, and advocacy to help them navigate the challenges that may arise in village life. We assist members who feel their rights are not being fully recognised or respected. While we do not offer legal advice, we offer guidance to ensure residents are treated fairly and in accordance with the Act and Regulations. With years of experience, we focus on preventing problems that may arise in retirement living. We also advocate for residents in discussions with the Minister and groups that represent village owners, operators, and other key players in the retirement village sector. The RVRA is non-political and non-commercial. We do not take sides between residents and management, or between residents and resident committees. To achieve our goals, the RVRA collaborates with: The NSW Minister responsible for retirement village administration The Commissioner and senior staff of NSW Fair Trading The Council of the Ageing (COTA) The Aged & Community Care Providers Association (ACCPA) The Seniors Rights Service (SRS) The Property Council of Australia The NSW Civil & Administrative Tribunal (NCAT) The RVRA Executive Committee meets regularly with representatives from retirement village operators, policy makers, and government ministers, to advocate for the interests of NSW retirement village residents. RVRA Education Centre Established in 2023 with support from the NSW Government, the Education Centre is a training and education platform designed to enhance the knowledge of retirement village residents. The Education Centre produces information sheets, videos and conductstraining for resident committees of retirement villages in NSW.
