The Hon Kevin Anderson, the Minister for Better Regulation and Innovation, issued six ministerial orders on 27 May 2020.
The Minister states that the exemption is necessary because the provision from which the exemption is granted requires non-compliance with a Public Health Order issued under section 7 of the Public Health Act 2010 that relates to COVID-19.
These orders include increased emergency measures as part of the NSW Government’s effort to address COVID-19 in retirement communities.
The Ministerial Orders for Retirement Villages Covid-19, were published in the NSW Government Gazette on Friday (29th May).
Information on the orders has been published on the Fair Trading website at https://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/resource-library/publications/coronavirus-covid-19/retirement-villages-and-residential-land-lease-communities/_nocache
A letter was sent via email to Retirement Village Operators on 2 June 2020 to alert them to the orders. Attached to this letter was another letter addressed to Resident Committees, for Operators to provide to their Committees for their information.
