NSW Opposition Leader, Luke Foley has announced that, if elected at the State elections in March 2019, Labor will establish an ombudsman service for NSW retirement village and residential land lease community residents.
Mr Foley said the new office will consider disputes related to the Australian Consumer Law, Retirement Villages Act 1999, Residential (Land Lease) Communities Act 2013, and associated regulations and will report to the NSW Parliament identifying systemic problems in the sector. The role will be critical in ensuring good outcomes for residents into the future.
