Provision of "Surgery" Room for visiting doctors.

While not specific to AU Villages our Residents' Committee has been discussing charges for the use of rooms/facilities for visiting providers of services to residents; these include podiatrist/manicurist, hairdresser, various merchandisers and doctors. Until recently doctors were not required to pay for the use of rooms nor for the other services provided by the village including cleaning, electricity, use of phone/fax, use of village receptionist to recieve bookings and for generating the appointment list. All others have paid either a nominal rent or a percentage of their takings.

It was recently proposed that doctors be requested to pay a nominal room rental of $25 per day of use - each of 2 doctors uses the rooms 48 times a year. This would result in an income of $2400 into the Budget for the benefit of residents.

I would be interested to know if any other villages levy charges or seek reimbursement for village services from visiting doctors.

I think all villages should be doing anything they can to keep their Recurrent Charges down by generating income to offset costs, if it is at all possible.
I approve of charges being made to all business persons who use any village's rooms or facilities, providing those persons are making profit from that usage by charging residents for their services. Their charge could be based upon a percentage of their turnover.
